Teaching Artist Applications for the 2010-11
Arts-2-gether Program will be available Fall
2010.
Master
Level Teaching Artists (Five years or more experience
working in the AIE field)
Accepted teaching artists will:
have a connection to and experience teaching
students with disabilities ages 7-18
be comfortable teaching to a diverse group
of six students with disabilities
be able to develop and implement a Visual
Arts Unit of Study designed to effectively meet
the needs of the students (containing 5-6 lesson
plans, and an assessment plan)
be able to effectively work with, and mentor
to, a New to the Field Teaching Artist who
will participate in the program as a teaching
assistant
be knowledgeable and experienced in their
art form
In addition, the teaching artist must be comfortable
working with non-disabled, adult-volunteers
who will be participating as mentors and will
work along side each student (six, student-adult
matches, each working one-on-one).
Benefits to selected Teaching Artists
will include:
Designing and implementing a Visual Arts Unit
of Study for students with disabilities
Free Professional Development:
Differentiated Instruction and the Arts
On-going support, and the opportunity to participate
in a mid-residency teleconference for Arts-2-gether
teaching artists
Experience working with students with disabilities:
Small group instruction
Responsible for designing and implementing a
Visual Arts Unit of Study (5-6 lesson plans
and assessment plan)
Teaching Artist Certificate of Participation
Networking and teaching opportunities
$850.00 stipend (includes prep time, and six,
1.5 hr meetings dates)
1 Piece of artwork will be included in the
NYSAAE/VSA of NYC
Collaborative Spring Exhibit (Exhibit includes
artwork created in the VSA of NYC Festival Program
and the Arts-2-gether Program). The selection
of artwork from the Arts-2-gether program will
go on a New York State Tour Summer 2010.
New
